Hope and Change, the audacity to believe in one’s future!
There are three ways to approach change… run from it… manage it or embrace risk or unknown.
Avoidance is not a good choice because continual change is part of the universal order. Avoiding change is unnatural.

Part of the universal change is… to grow and expand. You need a personal vision to grow and change.
Why do you need a vision in the first place?
You must have a vision before you start strategic planning. After all, you can’t give directions without a destination right?
But first, let’s go over the 3 steps for creating your new vision for your life. You gotta believe that you can hit the Re-Set Button for your life.
Step #1 – Pick a time frame. It could be 6 or 12 months maybe a 2-3 years out for you but you need to determine your goals if you ever hope to obtain them. Don’t be afraid to think in shorter periods of time, fear and lack of self-belief is your biggest stumbling block.
Step #2 – What will it take for you to talk or convince those around you that you mean business? This is heady stuff here, maybe the 2 of you if your married haven’t talked out your true wishes or fears about the future. Money is the #1 stress point in all relationships and were all afraid of uncertainty, for most of us we all grew up believing that if we worked hard kept our noises clean we would be rewarded and taken care of in our golden years. Well 2007 flipped that on it’s head for good didn’t it?
Talk it out honestly and then write down your shared goals for hitting your own Re-Set Button.
Step #3 – Use the step below to write your draft of where you want to be in your new timeline. Your are what your subconscious mind thinks you are and your are capable of much more than you ever thought possible once you commit your mind to work on it. Be specific and precise as possible.
This is after all your new life on the Re-Set Button were talking about!
Believe me I was really angry myself for a while heck I still am. What did I do to deserve this? I paid my bills didn’t borrow too much and plowed money like crazy back into my ranch in Oregon knowing that it was a sound investment over time. We finally decided to sell and we listed it for many times more what we paid for it and it was a good buy for someone. We got a buyer and were in escrow for 12 months waiting for this couple to close on any of their 5 properties in California and we would be off to the good life in Baja. Well that didn’t happen! Shock slowly set in we were screwed! The market on the west coast was collapsing with no end in site, now what?
Well we did exactly what I suggesting to you here. We begin to plan on life without selling our house, which was 90% of my own retirement plan. Had we closed we would have made a killing but we didn’t and life goes marching on.
Well we have seen many politicians’ come and go, guess who that leaves to change and prosper from change? The Government that’s who!
We all want to believe our future isn’t going to be bleak or leave us living a not so rosy lifestyle in our golden years. Most of us have seen our 401K’s or IRA’s take a hit over the last few years, our homes have lost 40-50% of their value and no matter where you live foreclosures have decimated the economy and left many of us wondering if we can ever sell our houses and now we read that most baby boomers are seriously considering putting off retirement because they can’t afford to stop working if their lucky enough to still have job at all.
Well what are you going to do? We read and see nothing on TV to make you feel better about your prospects either do you. We cannot fix the press. We cannot fix the government, or democracy, or the military or the economy, or human nature.
We can make ourselves better… have a positive impact in the big picture and gain success, joy and prosperity in the process.
It can be very difficult to see that there’s light at the end of the tunnel and not think it’s the on coming train and your about to get run over.
I’m running into more and more Expats or gringos here that have made that fateful decision to stop waiting for things to magically get better and took upon themselves to make a change. They realized that they could live here for a lot less than back home even if they couldn’t sell their house yet.
That’s a big first step to finally realize that there’s no bailout for us regular folks it’s just not going to happen. Whether were living thru a once in a lifetime global meltdown or other severe adjustment it not doesn’t really matter in the long run does it? It’s not to late to take action but you might not have long to wait to see things really get worse.
“It’s not a place I thought I’d be at this point in my life. It’s spooky.” Is a common reframe these days as millions of aging baby boomers on the cusp of retirement not only lost their jobs in the Great Recession but also saw their savings eviscerated. Remaining in the labor force longer than planned is their only option for replenishing what they lost.”
You aren’t in this alone so to speak, but that’s where we come in trying to offer you hope and a positive change for your future. This is no small deal when you’re talking about your life and whether or not you will enjoy the 2nd half of your life or not. I know what I’m talking about here we made some real hard choices and were not out of the woods yet either, but we took action and decided for us we had to follow our dreams and hearts and not wait for the real estate market to improve or our companies to pull out of the recession.
My dad used to tell me as a kid “to wish in one hand and spit into the other and see which one fills up first” man that used to irked me back then but he was right wasn’t he.
There are endless possibilities here in Mexico for you to start over. Whether you still need to work or you have a small nest egg that you can invest to open a small business or take over a B&B, maybe a tourist related guiding, fishing charters, doing bookkeeping or taxes, construction management oversight, learn to work from anywhere with the internet we can teach you how.
Don’t allow self doubt to cloud your mind, please expand your thinking to the possibilities of change and growth, invest in yourself no one else can do it for you can they?
